Brenda E. Zelenack (nee Brady) 78 of St.. John, IN, formerly of Whiting and Hammond, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the St. Margaret Mercy Healthcare Center, Dyer. She was the beloved wife of the late LeoMichael Zelenack who passed away February 25, 1989; loving mother of George (Annette) Zelenack of Machesney Park, IL, Louise (late Bruce) Terrell of Hendersonville, TN, Susan Zelenack Danielson of Whiting and the late Stephen Zelenack; cherished grandmother of Philip (Jennifer) Zelenack, Matthew (Kim) Danielson and Erik Danielson; adoring great grandma of Justin Danielson; dearest sister of Ted Brady, Ruthie Ford and the late Victor Brady, David Brady, Barbara Welge and Bernardine Eley; dear aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 15, 2017 at 9:30am at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting; a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, with the Rev. Mark R. Peres, C.PP.S., officiating; interment, Mt. Mercy Cemetery, Gary; visitation at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00pm. The St. John Rosary Society, together with members of the parish, will offer prayers at the funeral home on Sunday at 4:30pm.
Brenda Zelenack was born on February 12, 1939 to James and Pauline Brady. She was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Region and a graduate of Bloom Township High School. Brenda was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting and the St. John Rosary Society. She was a retired insurance adjuster for the Guarantee Reserve Life Insurance Company with over 30 years of service. Brenda loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchild. Devoted to her family, she will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the St. John School Endowment Fund, the Whiting Food Pantry or the Whiting “Gimme Shelter” (for pets) would be appreciated
