Josephine M. Jalovecky (Mravinac), age 89, a resident of Whiting, IN passed away Saturday October 8, 2016. She is survived by her husband, William J. Jalovecky; son, Lorin (Heather Sterk) Jalovecky of Crown Point, IN; daughter, KathyJo (Stephen) Shay of Whiting; brother, John Mravinac of East Chicago, IN; sisters, Anne Boer of Gahanna, OH and Helen Mravinac of East Chicago, IN; sister-in-law Dorothy as well as several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents Frank and Josephine (Markovich) Mravinac; brothers, Mike, Steve, Frank; sisters, Katherine (Anthony), Maria, and Mary; brother in law Andrew Boer.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at Baran Funeral Home , 1235-119th St., Whiting; a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting ; interment, St. John Cemetery, Hammond; visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3:00 to 8:00pm.
Josephine was born on August 13, 1927 in East Chicago, IN, fifth of ten children of Frank and Josephine (Markovich) Mravinac. She graduated from Washington High School in East Chicago class of 1945. On August 28, 1965, she married her beloved husband, William J. Jalovecky. She was a member of the Croatian Fraternal Society and of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Whiting. She worked 32 years at Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company/LTV in East Chicago. Josephine was a loving wife and mother who loved to cook, bake, and crochet for her family and always opened her home for her daughters and sons friends. In her later years, she enjoyed watching western movies and her beloved Chicago Cubs.
