Irene Meingasner (nee Psikla) 87 of Hammond passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 21, 2013. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward Meingasner who passed away in 1997; loving mother of Elaine (Joseph) Hansen of Hammond and the late Donald J. Meingasner; cherished grandmother of Dawn (Doyle) Godbolt and William (Michelle) Hansen both of Hammond; adoring great-grandma of  Michael and Melissa Godbolt, Joshua DeArmond, Jacob and Jared Hansen; nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her sister Ann T. (late Adrian) Kall.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2013, 10:15am at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting; a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00am at St. Casimir Church, Hammond with the Rev. William O’Toole, officiating; interment, Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville; visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 9:00am to time of services.

Irene Meingasner was born on December 14, 1925 to Joseph and Anna (Janik) Psikla and was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Region. She was a graduate of George Rogers Clark High School, Class of 1943. Irene was a member of St. Casimir Church, Hammond, the American Legion, Whiting Post 80 Women’s Auxiliary, the BPOE, Whiting Lodge 1273 and the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association, BR. 452. Devoted to her family, Irene will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
