Eric Casillas, 36 of Whiting, passed away suddenly on Monday, October 24, 2016 at his resident. Beloved son of Yolanda Duarte Casillas and Roberto Casillas; loving brother of Robert (Julie), Andres, Yolanda (Zendel DeJesus) and Michael; adoring uncle of Natalie, Christopher, Alekzander and Ava; many cherished aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 9:30am at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting; a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am at Sacred Heart Church, Whiting with the Rev. Jerome P. Stack, C.PP.S., officiating; interment, St. John Cemetery, Hammond; visitation at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00pm; parish wake service at the funeral home on Friday at 4:30pm.

Eric Casillas was born on April 27, 1980 and was a lifelong resident of Whiting. He was a graduate of Whiting High School, Class of 1998 and earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from St. Joseph College, Rensselaer, IN. He was currently employed as a Physical Education Teacher at Unity Junior High School, Cicero, IL. Eric loved basketball and had played for Whiting High School and St. Joseph College. He enjoyed boxing and coaching baseball and basketball. He was an avid Chicago Bulls Fan. Eric was a very giving and selfless person, always willing to lend a hand. A devoted son, brother and uncle, he will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Whiting Food Pantry or the Whiting “Gimme Shelter” for pets would be appreciated.
