Thomas Doyle Obituary

Thomas J. Doyle, 89 of Hammond, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at the Hammond-Whiting Care Center. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Minerva (nee Gonzalez); loving father of Gregory (Marcia) Ortega, Nancy (Josh) Cole, Dawn (Brion) Denton, Elizabeth Doyle, Patricia (Alan) Magurany, Dione Marie (Ken) Underwood and Diane (Stephen) Stratton; many cherished grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Bill and a  sister, Rosemary.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th Street, Whiting, there was no visitations. Interment of cremains will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Illinois. A Memorial Mass will be offered at a future date. Thomas Doyle was born on November 5, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois to Joseph and Rose (Brady) Doyle and was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Region. He received his Associates Degree from the University of Wisconsin. He was a former employee of Wisconsin Steel, Chicago and was a retiree of Cubs Foods with a service of 15 years. Thomas was a United States Army and Air Force Veteran and was a member of the American Legion, South Deering Post. He was a member of the former St. Victor Church, Calumet City and was a member of Our Lady of Knock Church, Calumet City. He had been active in the Lion’s Club and other civic organization where he spent many volunteer hours working fundraisers and festivals. Devoted to his family, Thomas will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials to a food pantry of your choice, would be appreciated.
