Theresa A. Simich (nee Hamadej), 82 of Whiting, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2021 at the Franciscan Hospital, Dyer. She was the beloved wife of the late John W. Simich who passed away February 8, 2003; loving mother of Tina (Michael) Bobos; cherished grandmother of Larry John Hansen; adoring great grandma of Ayden and Nolen; many nieces and nephews; dear feline companion, “Ounces”. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, John, George and Steve Hamadej and two sisters, Mary Pappas and Elizabeth Utterbach.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 119th St. and Lincoln Ave., Whiting with the Rev. Mark R. Peres, C.PP.S., officiating; interment of cremains to follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond; visitation at the church Wednesday morning from 9:00am to time of services. (Due to the current health situation a limitation of 100 people will be allowed in the church, face masks must be worn, social distancing is expected and temperatures will be taken.) Theresa Simich was born on September 27, 1938 to George and Elizabeth (Seech) Hamadej. She was a lifelong resident of the Whiting-Robertsdale Community and was a graduate of Whiting High School, Class of 1956. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting and the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association, Branch 81. She was a retiree of Bank One (Chase Bank), Whiting with a service of 42 years and enjoyed gardening. Devoted to her family, Theresa will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Whiting “Gimme Shelter” (for pets), would be appreciated.
