Steven M. Slivka

Steven M. Slivka, 69 of Whiting, passed away suddenly on Monday, July 10, 2023 at St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago. He was the beloved son of the late John and Elvira (Corondan) Slivka; loving father of Christine Slivka; cherished brother of Julie (James) Butler, Peter Slivka and the late Jeff, John and Ted Slivka; dear uncle of Chris, Jonathan and Gabriel Slivka, Tanya Adair, Anthony (Erica) Adair and Jessica Butler; proud great uncle of Amelia Adair.

Visitation for Steve will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th Street, Whiting from 4:00 to 8:00p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on-line at www.baranfh.com.

Steve Slivka was born on July 5, 1954. A lifelong resident of Whiting, he was a graduate of Whiting High School, Class of 1972. He was a retired landscape foreman from the Arzurmanian Nursery, Hammond with a service of 35 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on cars and was a great animal lover. Devoted to his family, Steve will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Whiting “Gimme Shelter” (for pets), P.O.
