Stella Scivinsky (nee Kaczmarczyk) 93 of Whiting, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 29, 2024 surrounded by her most cherished family at St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago. She was the beloved wife of 52 years to the late Harry Scivinsky who passed away May 2, 2003; loving mother of Catherine Scivinsky and Joseph (Carol) Scivinsky; adoring grandmother of Brianna and Julianna Scivinsky; dear step-grandmother of April (Graeme) Gerdom and Jason Irizarry; dear step great grandma of Amelia and Adeline; dearest sister of Mary (late Fred) Madejewski and the late Anthony Kaczmarczyk; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 9:30 am at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting; a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am at St. Adalbert Church, Whiting, with the Rev. Mark R. Peres, C.PP.S., officiating; interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL; visitation at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00 to 7:00pm.; parish wake service on Thursday at 4:30pm. Stella Scivinsky was born on April 8, 1931 to Wojciech and Katarzyna Kaczmarczk. She was a lifelong resident of the Whiting-Robertsdale Community. She was a graduate of Hammond Technical High School, Class of 1949. She was a lifelong member of St. Adalbert Church, Whiting and the Polish Women’s Alliance. Stella was devoted to her faith and enjoyed making rosaries. She enjoyed cooking, playing checkers with her granddaughters and was a gentle and loving person. Devoted to her family, Stella will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Adalbert Church, Whiting, IN, would be appreciated.
