Shirley A. Stephens (nee Wooten) 87 of Whiting, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at the Hammond-Whiting Care Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Eugene Stephens who passed away in 1990. She is survived by her children, Randy, Leah and Christie; grandchildren, Courtney, Erica and Emily; great grandchildren, Aasia, Lydia, Korbyn, Noah, Owen, Eli and Madelyn; sisters, Dot, Demaris and Mary Lou; nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th Street, Whiting. There was no visitation. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on-line at www.baranfh.com.
Shirley Stephens was born on May 27, 1939 in Decatur, Alabama to Marion Johnathan Wooten and Bertha Marie Brown Wooten. A longtime resident of the Whiting-Robertsdale Community, she was a member of Whiting Baptist Church and was a retired bus driver for the School City of Whiting (special education). Shirley enjoyed shopping at Walmart, going out to eat and time spent with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
