Rudolph H. "Rudy" Wunder

Rudolph H. “Rudy” Wunder, 83 of Whiting, passed away peacefully at the home of his son, Michael, on Monday, December 4, 2023. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Lorraine (nee Brosman); loving father of Ed (Eileen), Michael (Nediel), Bob (Joani) and Katie Wunder; cherished grandfather of fifteen; adoring great grandpa of two; dearest brother of Wylene Lorenzen; dear uncle to a niece and three nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Marian (Rought) Wunder.

Visitation is at Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting on Wednesday December 13, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00pm. Mass will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, December 14th, at Our Lady Immaculate Church, located at 410 Washington Boulevard, Oak Park, IL 60302, interment will be private. Rudy Wunder was born on September 1, 1940 to Rudolph and Marian (Rought) Wunder and was a lifelong Whiting resident. He was a graduate of Whiting High School, Class of 1958 and went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. Rudy was a licensed contractor and worked on many homes and businesses throughout the Whiting and Robertsdale community.  He was a devoted member of the former Our Lady of the Rosary Shrine, Whiting. He was a former Councilman for the City of Whiting and was a former Whiting Building Inspector. He was also a licensed beautician and employee of Rudolf’s House of Beauty, Whiting. Devoted to his family, Rudy will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
