Ronald L. Carlson

Ronald L. Carlson, 90 of Glenwood, IL, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 8, 2025 at his residence. Beloved father of Karen (Howard) Swacker, Lynne Carlson, Barbara (Tom Dec) Carlson, James Carlson, and the late Martin and John Carlson; cherished grandfather of Michelle (David), Melissa (Eduardo), Howie, Anna, Jimi and Joey; adoring great grandpa of Jonathan and James; dearest brother-in-law of Ann Marie (late Bill) Hnath and Fran (late Tom) Plavec; dear uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wives, Lorraine (Jakubowski) Carlson on August 18, 1973 and Mary Ann (Plavec) Carlson on April 16, 2015 and his sister, Doris DeWaard.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 15, 2025 at 11:00am at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 118th St. and Atchison Ave., Whiting with Pastor Mark Zuehsow, officiating; interment to follow at Concordia Cemetery, Hammond; visitation at the church on Friday morning from 9:00am to time of services. Ronald Carlson was born on June 6, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois to Swan and Anna (Wolsko) Carlson. He attended Washburne Trade School, Chicago learning carpentry and was a member of Carpenter’s Local 599 of Griffith, IN. He was a member of the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Whiting. Ronald was an avid deer hunter and fisherman and enjoyed “scrapping”. Devoted to his family, Ron will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1801 Atchison Ave., Whiting, IN 46394, would be appreciated.
