Robert A. Shourek, 77 of Hammond, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2024. He was the beloved husband of the late Cynthia (Marinaro) Shourek who passed away September, 9, 2009; loving father of Robin Castle, Krista (Edward) Kot and Kathleen Shourek; cherished grandfather of Zachary Castle, Courtney (Marisa Palacios) Castle, Steven, Jonathan and Ethan Kot; adoring great grandpa of Lilly, Amaya and Gracelynn. Robert was the eldest of six children born to the late John and Dolores Shourek; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 10:00 am at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting, with the Rev. Mark R. Peres, C.PP.S., officiating; interment, Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, Indiana; visitation at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00pm: Expressions of sympathy may be placed on-line at www.baranfh.com.
Robert Shourek was born on November 25, 1947. He was a lifelong resident of Hammond and was a graduate of George Rogers Clark High School, Class of 1965. He was a retiree of the Republic Steel Company. He was an avid bowler (achieved a perfect 300 game) and fisherman. Devoted to his family, Robert will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
