Robert Brian "Peach" Pietsch

Robert Brian “Peach” Pietsch, 54 of Whiting, passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at his home. He is survived by his cherished life partner of 25 years, Jennifer Skvorak; adoring father of Lauren Skvorak and Lesley (Louis) Parker; proud grandfather of  Violet Talkington and Dean Hambrick; beloved son of Lauryl (late Dan) Dattulo; loving brother of Kimberly Pietsch; dearest uncle of Kailyn, Cody, Lily and Ryan; treasured grandson of Jan Guthrie; dear  nephew of Cheryl (Rick) Scott-Rosado and Bob (Carol) Guthrie; fond cousin of Danny (Corin) Scott, Lori (Riley) Scott and the late Kelly (Tom Kammerer) Scott.

“Peach”  was born on December 26, 1969. He was a lifelong resident of Whiting and was a graduate of Whiting High School, Class of 1989. He was a member of the Industrial Arts Club and was the Computer Animated Drafting State Champion of 1989. Channeling his love of architecture and abundant energy, Rob became an Iron Worker and was a member of Iron Workers Local 1, Chicago. Rob would always point out any structure he helped build. He enjoyed life to its fullest, always organizing and socializing. Robert was a Charter Member of the Hammond Mohawks Club and was the appointed auditor. Always busy, he loved outdoor concerts, traveling, camping, bowling, a dedicated Chicago Cubs fan, NASCAR pit participant as well as a winner of multiple dance competitions. One of his cherished childhood memories was cooking with his grandmother Jan and is the proud keeper of the family recipes. Robert was respected for his ability to fix or solve any problem and was renowned for kind acts of service. His favorite job was being “Pops” to his grandkids. He was devoted to his family and was taken too soon. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life was held at the Hammond Mohawks Club, the family is eternally grateful for our friends and family’s continued love and support. Arrangements were entrusted to the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th Street, Whiting. In lieu of flowers or memorials, prayers for the family would be appreciated.
