Robert John “Bob” Maslikowski, 65, of Robertsdale, Indiana, passed away on March 7, 2025. Bob was born on October 2, 1959 in Chicago, Illinois and resided in the Chicagoland area for the duration of his life. Bob is survived by his loving daughters Rachel (Tim) Wajvoda of Whiting, Indiana; Rebecca (Andrew) Snell of Webb City, Missouri; and Roxanne (Derek) Gingrich of Eagle, Colorado; his four grandsons; his parents, Steve and Alice Maslikowski; and his siblings, Steve (Sue) Maslikowski of Des Moines, Iowa; Mike (Sybrina) Maslikowski; Cathy (Scott) Brooker; and Lynn (Ray) Rossi. He also leaves behind his former spouses, Vicki Scott-Sach and Rose Maslikowski, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Bob had a memorable sense of humor and a love for fun. He could always be found at any gathering telling jokes and making others laugh, even using magic tricks or pranks when he was feeling especially inspired. His passion for cars and motorcycles led him to own many different kinds over the years, each one a reflection of his adventurous spirit. He loved music ranging from Elvis to the Steve Miller Band, as well as other “oldies” like Frankie Vallie and the Four Seasons and the Beach Boys (singing along in an impressive falsetto). Bob enjoyed cooking delicious meals for his girls- especially “dad’s world famous mashed potatoes”. He delighted in traditions like decorating for Halloween and getting a shock from the neighborhood kids, often enlisting his daughters to help him execute new levels of “scare factor” (in good fun!). He was also an amazing artist who could draw anything with skill. Bob was full of a wealth of knowledge and talents that he reserved especially for those closest to him. His love for music, fast cars, and magic, was only outshined by the love he had for his three daughters—his greatest joys and proudest accomplishments. He loved being a “Papa” to his four grandsons, Owen, Ollie, Sullivan, and Griffin, always having photos of them ready to show off to anyone he might come across.
As a teen, Bob was a frequent visitor to Wayne’s Trick Shop in Hammond, Indiana, where he eventually worked and honed his magic skills. He went on to build a 33-year career at Inland Steel, retiring in 2012.
Bob had an unforgettable way about him. His bellowing laugh and playful smile will live on in the hearts and memories of those who both loved and laughed with him. He was creative, silly, and a loving, protective father. Doing special things for his daughters will be his lasting legacy.
As per Bob’s wishes, his immediate family will gather privately to celebrate his life.
Ride fast and keep the magic alive, Bob. You will be dearly missed.
