Richard Huss, 84 of East Chicago, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 1, 2023 at Palos Community Hospital, Palos Heights, IL. He was the beloved son of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Lepucki) Huss and was preceded in death by two brothers, Casimir and Stanley Huss and his sister, Mary Anne Huss. Cherished uncle of Cynthis Huss; special friends and caregivers, Judy and Stephanie Lewan; many cousins of the Huss and Lepucki families.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 9:30am at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting; a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting with the Rev. Mark R. Peres, C.PP.S., officiating; interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL; visitation at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00pm. Members of the parish will offer prayers at the funeral home on Friday at 4:30pm. The Mass will be live-streamed at www.stjohnbap.org. Richard Huss was born on September 30, 1939 and was a lifelong resident of East Chicago. A very religious man, he was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting and was a US Army Veteran (Military Police), stationed at the Berlin Wall. He was a graduate of Bishop Noll High School, Class of 1958 and went on to earn his Masters Degree in Music from DePaul University, Chicago. He played the accordion, was a member of the Aristocrats Band and the Calpino Accordion Club. He was a longtime employee of Roadway Trucking and was an avid bowler. Richard will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1849 Lincoln Ave., Whiting, IN 46394, would be appreciated.
