Richard M. Ford, 87 of Whiting, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2021 at St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago. He was the beloved life companion of the late Regina A. Ford (nee Reese) who passed away April 10, 2016; loving father of Leroy (Cheri) Ford of Lowell and Sharon Ford of Whiting; cherished grandfather of Nicole (Jamie) Barker, Brittany Kupiec, Natalie (Mike) Malino and Eric O’Bannon ; adoring great grandpa of Mya, Nathan, Colton, Nickolas, Nolan, Emily, Julia and Maci; dearest brother of Dolores (late Nicholas) Ogrizovich of Whiting, Joseph (Sharon) Ford of Griffith and the late Irene “Dodo” Earl; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th Street, Whiting on Monday, April 26, 2021 at 10:00am with the Rev. Mark R. Peres, C.PP.S., officiating and will be live-streamed at https://evt.live/baranfuneralhome/richard-ford; interment to follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond; visitation at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00pm. (Due to the current health situation a limitation of 50 people will be allowed in the funeral home at one time, face masks must be worn, social distancing is expected and temperatures will be taken.) Richard Ford was born on September 24, 1933 to Leroy and Mary (Kozak) Ford. He was a lifelong resident of Whiting and was a graduate of Whiting High School, Class of 1953. He was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion, Whiting Post 80. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting and the Whiting-Robertsdale Boat Club. Richard was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing. He was a retiree of the American Maize (Cargil) Products Company, Hammond with over 30 years of service. Devoted to his family, Richard will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
