Rev. Stanley J. Dominik, 90 of Hammond, passed away peacefully on the morning of Monday, February 5, 2024 at the Albertine Home, Hammond. He was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Anna (Hebda) Dominik; loving brother of Irene (late Matthew) Matz and the late Sophie (late Joseph) Hapak, Joseph (late Mary), Marie (late Joseph) Hruskocy, Chester (late Dorothy), Anne (late Herman) Radde and John (Pearl); dearest uncle to many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great, great nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Fr. Dominik will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024 from 2:00 to 7:00pm at St. Adalbert Church, 121st Street at Indianapolis Blvd., Whiting, beginning with the Rite of Reception at 2:00pm and concluding with Evening Prayer at 6:30pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at St. Adalbert Church, beginning with Morning Prayer at 10:00am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30am with the Most Rev. Robert J. McClory, Bishop of Gary, officiating; interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, Illinois. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on-line at www.baranfh.com.

Fr. Stanley was born on May 1, 1933 in Whiting, Indiana and was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Region. A son of St. Adalbert Parish in Whiting, Father Dominik was ordained by the Most Rev. Andrew G .Grutka, Bishop of Gary on May 31, 1958 and assigned to teach at Bishop Noll Institute (1958-1968) while assisting at St. Stanislaus in East Chicago (1958-1964) and St. John Cantius in Indiana Harbor (1964-1968). In 1967 he administered St. Joseph Parish East Chicago.  In 1968 he served as pastor of St. John Cantius for one year and then was named pastor of St. Stanislaus Kostka in Michigan City (1969-1985). He served as pastor of St. John Bosco in Hammond (1985-1998) and Sacred Heart in Whiting from 1998, serving three parishes in Whiting until his retirement in 2013. Dean of the North-lake Deanery, he was appointed Vicar General in 2000. A kind and humble man, Fr. Stan was devoted to his church and the congregations he served. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to especially thank the sisters of the Albertine Home for all of the compassion and care shown to Father Stan.
