Paul M. Bednar, 75 of Whiting, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at Regency Hospital, East Chicago. He was the beloved son of the late Edward and Anna (Seman) Bednar; cherished brother of his twin sister, Pauline Bednar, Anna May (late Joseph) Gerba, Barbara (Joseph) Yurkanin and the late Mary Ann (Richard) Danko, Edward Bednar and George Bednar; dearest uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 1:00pm at St. Mary Cemetery in the Hessville section of Hammond, with the Rev. Andrew Summerson of St. Mary’s Assumption Byzantine Catholic Church, Whiting, officiating. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th Street, Whiting. Paul Bednar was born on January 8, 1947 and was a lifelong resident of Whiting. He was a member of St. Mary’s Assumption Byzantine Catholic Church, Whiting and was a former employee of the City of Whiting Park Department. Paul enjoyed building model cars and trucks, watching NASCAR, playing his hand-held electronic games and was an avid Chicago White Sox, Notre Dame Football, Chicago Black Hawks and Chicago Bulls fan. Devoted to his family, Paul will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Whiting Food Pantry or the Whiting “Gimme Shelter” (for pets), P.O.
