Nancy A. Artim (nee Ballon) 72 of Whiting, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at the Munster Community Hospital. She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years, Elvin “Al” Artim; loving mother of Brandon Artim, Jillian (John Ward) Artim and the late Alan Andrew Artim; cherished grandmother of Jayden, Josh and Janna; many dear cousins and her devoted feline companions, “Felix” and “Gal, Gal”.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at 9:30am at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting; a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, with the Rev. Mark R. Peres, C.PP.S., officiating; interment, St. John Cemetery, Hammond; visitation at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.; members of the parish will offer prayers at the funeral home on Monday at 4:30pm. Nancy Artim was born on October 19, 1953 to Andrew and Helen (Fricko) Ballon and was a lifelong resident of the Whiting-Robertsdale Community. She attended Immaculate Conception Grade School, was a graduate of George Rogers Clark High School, Class of 1971 and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting. She was a dedicated volunteer at the Legacy Thrift Shop in Highland, for many years. Nancy was proud of her Slovak heritage and supported all things “Whiting”. Devoted to her family, she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Leukemia Research Foundation, 191 Waukegan Road, Northfield, Illinois 60093, would be appreciated.
