Minerva Nieto

Minerva Nieto, 82 of East Chicago, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2021 at St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago. Beloved mother of Santiago (Cheryl) Nieto, Manolo Nieto, Alfonso Nieto, Jose Nabor Nieto and Max (late Nacole) Nieto; cherished grandmother and great grandmother to many; dearest sister of Nick (Gloria) Sanchez.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 2:00pm at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting, with the Rev. Mark R. Peres, C.PP.S. of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, officiating; cremation to follow; visitation at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00am to time of services.  (due to the current health situation, face masks must be worn in the funeral home, social distancing is expected).  Expressions of may be placed on-line at www.baranfh.com.

Minerva Nieto was born on August 6, 1939 in Brownsville, Texas and was a longtime resident of the Calumet Region. She was a former employee of Omni Filter of Hammond with a service of 15 years. She loved to sew and was an excellent seamstress. Devoted to her family, Minerva will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
