Michael P. “Mike” Skiba, 43 of Hammond, passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 4, 2024. He is survived by his life companion of 18 years, Rachel Wilson; cherished nephew of Ken (Theresa) Solkey, Roger (Jan) Solkey, Walter (Mary) Skiba and Al (Louise) Skiba; many dear cousins.
A Celebration of Mike’s Life will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024 at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting from 5:00 to 7:00pm. As a tribute to Michael, please wear your favorite jersey or concert t-shirt. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on-line at www.baranfh.com
Mike Skiba was born on August 5, 1980 to the late Edward P. and Marilyn (Solkey) Skiba. A lifelong resident of Hammond, he was a graduate of George Rogers Clark High School, Class of 1998 and was former member of the American Slovak Club, Whiting. He enjoyed fishing, was an avid Notre Dame fan and enjoyed Clutch concerts. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Wright-Way Rescue, 5915 W. Lincoln Ave., Morton Grove, IL 60053, would be appreciated.
