Michael A. Schultz

Michael A. Schultz, 45 of Whiting, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at the Community Hospital, Munster. Beloved son of Joanne (Papp) Schultz and the late Roy W. Schultz; loving life companion of Laura Grotta; dearest Michael of Laura’s family, Ryan and Jessica Neubauer and Thomas and Eddie Grotta and Geraldine Michaels; dear “Papa” of Logan, Kayla, Riley and Ben; proud uncle of Nikki Schultz; cherished nephew of Jenny (John) Drutis and Donna (Gary) Mitcheltree; many cousins. He was also preceded in death by his brother Eric Schultz.

A Celebration of Michael’s Life will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022 from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119^th Street, Whiting; cremation to follow. (Due to the current health crisis, face masks are suggested). Expressions of sympathy may be placed on-line at www.baranfh.com.

Michael Schultz was born on August 6, 1976 and was a lifelong resident of Whiting. He was a graduate of Whiting High School, Class of 1994 and was a very talented auto mechanic. He was currently employed at Hunter Maintenance, Chicago and was a former employee of the City of Hammond, Fairris Automotive and Poppen’s Auto Service. He loved cars, drag racing and spending time on his boat. Devoted to his family, Michael will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Please omit flowers.
