Mark D. Helmick

Mark D. Helmick, 73 of Whiting, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago. He was the beloved son of the late Daniel and Margaret (Korbel) Helmick; cherished brother of Dana (David) Sabotka, Michael “Terry” (Helen) Helmick, Doreen Helmick, Lori (late Peter) Stofcik and the late Cheryl (Ken) Keeler; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Interment of Mark’s cremains will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 1:00pm at St. John Cemetery, 1547-167^th Street, Hammond with the Rev. Stanley J. Dominik, officiating. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119^th St., Whiting. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on-line at www.baranfh.com.

Mark Helmick was born on February 9, 1949 and was a lifelong resident of Whiting. He was a graduate of Whiting High School, Class of 1967 and was a US Army Veteran of the Viet Nam Conflict. He was a former steelworker and enjoyed cycling. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
