Mark R. Boyer

Mark R. Boyer, 70 of Whiting, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 13, 2025. He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Nanette (nee Jefchak); loving father of the late Jeremy Boyer; cherished grandfather of Natalia; dearest brother-in-law of Janice (Jeff) Mastervich; dear uncle of Emily Sands and Nathan Farmer; many cousins.

Mark Boyer was born on January 18, 1955 to Vernon and Ethel (Pieters) Boyer. A lifelong resident of the Whiting-Robertsdale Community, he was a graduate of George Rogers Clark High School, Class of 1973. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association, BR. 81 and was a retired Superintendent of Train Operations for the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad with a service of 41 years. Mark loved watching all sports. He had been a coach for the Robertsdale Little League, was an avid bowler, participating in leagues at Olympia Lanes, Hammond and was the commissioner for many fantasy football leagues. A talented keyboardist, Mark had played with numerous local bands and was a great animal lover. A devoted husband, father and grandpa,  Mark will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Whiting “Gimme Shelter” (for pets), P.O. Box 591, Whiting, IN 46394, would be appreciated.
