She drank her coffee black and scalding hot. She was ahead of her time. She thought women should have the same opportunity as men. She valued education and pursued her passion of learning into her later years. She devoured a good book. Sang in church. Not the best singer. She gardened and grew tulips, pansies, and roses. Her home had an open-door policy, and all were welcome. She loved to talk. A lot. She asked questions. But she listened, too. And in her listening, she met you at that moment to hear and see you. Her empathy ran deep, and she would find a way to comfort you. She and the love of her life, Bert, found joy on the dancefloor with a good jitterbug. She jumped the curb and hit a garbage can when trying to park her car to attend swim aerobics, but she was an ok driver. She will be greatly missed.
