Lorraine M. Kasarda

Lorraine M. Kasarda, 74 of Hammond, passed away peacefully on the morning of Friday, August 4, 2023 at the Hammond-Whiting Care Center following a courageous battle with dementia. She was the beloved daughter of the late George and Mary (Striko) Kasarda; loving sister of Gerry Kasarda and Jim (Rose) Kasarda; many nieces and nephews; dear friend Sue Adam of the St. Vincent DePaul Society.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 10:30am at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting; a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, with the Rev. Mark R. Peres, C.PP.S, officiating; cremation to follow; visitation at the funeral home on Friday morning from 9:00am to time of services. Lorraine Kasarda was born on November 5, 1948 and was a lifelong resident of Hammond. She was a graduate of St. Mary of the Woods, Terre Haute, Indiana and went on to receive her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Purdue University Calumet. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, tutoring reading and phonics at St. John School. She loved music, excelled at crocheting, did in depth family genealogy and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Lorraine will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, c/o St. John Church, 1849 Lincoln Ave., Whiting, IN 46394, would be appreciated.
