Obituary
Linda Van Houten (nee Peacock) 64 of Whiting, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago. She is survived by her beloved husband of 41 years, David VanHouten; loving mother of David VanHouten and Krystal VanHouten; adoring grandma of Emily Grace; cherished sister of Nancy Barbaro, Dolores Peacock and the late Dorothy Oreck and Richard Peacock; dearest daughter-in-law of Betty (late Charles) VanHouten; many dear nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at 8:00p.m. at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting; cremation to follow; visitation at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00pm to time of services. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on-line at www.baranfh.com.
Linda VanHouten was born on June 23, 1958 in Alabama to James Richard and Geneva Temple (Smith) Peacock and was a resident of Whiting for the past sixteen years. She was a former employee of the Hammond-Whiting Care Center. Devoted to her family, Linda will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family, would be appreciated.
