Lillian E. Wierzbicki (nee Jelliga), 85 of Crown Point, formerly of Whiting, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at the St. Anthony Medical Center, Crown Point. She was the beloved wife of the late Thaddeus “Ted” Wierzbicki who passed away November 3, 2007; loving mother of Brian (Laurie) Wierzbicki; cherished sister of Irene (late Ted) Kryszyn; dear sister-in-law of Ann (late Emil) Nastav; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023 at 10:30am at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting; a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00am at St. Adalbert Church, Whiting, with the Rev. Mark R. Peres, C.PP.S., officiating; interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL; visitation at the funeral home on Friday morning from 9:00am to time of services. Lillian Wierzbicki was born on July 20, 1938 to John and Sophie (Panik) Jelliga and was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Region. She was a graduate of Whiting High School, Class of 1956 and was a member of St. Adalbert Church, Whiting, where she sang with the church choir and was a pierogi maker. She was a retiree of the Whiting White Castle with a service of 17 years. Lillian was an excellent cook and baker. She loved flowers and enjoyed gardening. A devoted wife and mother, she will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Adalbert Church, Whiting, would be appreciated.
