Laura E. Blastick (nee Kania), 52 of Hammond, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at her residence. She is survived by her beloved husband of 29 years, Joseph Blastick; dear sister of Leslie Walczak and the late John Kania.
Private funeral services have been held, there was no visitation. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting. Expressions of sympathy may be shared online at www.baranfh.com.
Laura Blastick was born on August 23, 1973 to Robert and Elizabeth (Hazard) Kania and was a lifelong resident of Hammond. She was a graduate of George Rogers Clark High School, Class of 1991 and went on to earn her Associates Degree from Purdue Calumet. She was a former employee of the Guaranteed Reserve Life Insurance Company and University of Chicago, Obgyn IT Department. A great animal lover, Laura cherished her feline and canine companions. A devoted wife, Laura will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Whiting “Gimme Shelter” (for pets), P.O. Box 591, Whiting, Indiana 46394, would be appreciated.
