Kenneth Ross Davenport

Kenneth Ross Davenport, 83 of Whiting, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 17, 2023. He was the beloved husband of the late Shelby J. (Rogers) Davenport; loving father of Scot (Jolene) Davenport and the late Debbie Mutka; cherished “Paw” of Skylar, Drew “Bubba”, Ryan (Esther), Jackson and Nolan Davenport; dearest brother of the late Tommy (Jane) Davenport and the late Sam (late Rosalie) Davenport; dear uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 11:00am at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting, with the Pastor Brandon Rukes of the First Christian Church of Griffith, officiating; interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Crown Point; visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. Ken Davenport was born on March 25, 1940 to Sam and Mary (Basinger) Davenport. A lifelong resident of Whiting, he was a graduate of Whiting High School, Class of 1960. He was a retiree of the Inland Steel Company, East Chicago, with service of 36 years and was a member of United Steel Workers, Local 1010. Ken loved sports and time spent with his grandchildren. Devoted to his family, he will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society or the Whiting Food Pantry, would be appreciated.
