Kathleen M. Benko

Kathleen M. Benko, 69 of Whiting, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at her residence. Loving mother of Jacquelyn (Dylan Sanchez) Benko; adoring grandma of Julianna, Gwendolyn and Cecilia; cherished sister of David (Marilyn) Bougie, Patty (Aaron) Zygoldo, Donald Bougie and the late Norman Bougie; many dear nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at 6:00pm at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119^th St., Whiting, with the Pastor Daniel Murray of the St. Paul Evangelical Luthean Church, Whiting, officiating; cremation to follow; visitation at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00pm. (Due to the current health situation a limitation of 50 people will be allowed in the funeral home at one time, face masks must be worn, social distancing is expected and temperatures will be taken.) Kathleen Benko was born on December 10, 1950 in Cedar Lake, Indiana to Gilbert and Sara Bougie and was a longtime Whiting resident. She was a member of the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Whiting and was a retired electrician from the Amoco Oil (BP) Whiting Refinery with over 40 years of service. Kathleen loved to play cards and do cross stitch, but above all she enjoyed the time spent with her granddaughters. Devoted to her family, Kathleen will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
