Katherine M. Jorkon (nee Tkach) 75 of Whiting, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 12, 2023 surrounded by her most cherished family at St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago. She was the beloved wife of the late William John Jorkon who passed away July 10, 1991; loving mother of Lisa (Georgios Kritikos) McEnery, Kristen (Andrew) Molnar and Nicholas (Katie Kopecky) Jorkon; adoring grandmother of Ryan (Megan) Molnar, Caitlin and Liam McEnery, Seth Jorkon, Kayla Kritikos, Gavin, TJ, Colin and Riley Kopecky; dearest sister of Deacon Timothy (Linda) Tkach and Diane (Tom) Superits; dear aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 10:00am at St. Mary’s Assumption Byzantine Catholic Church, 2011 Clark St., Whiting, with the Rev. Andrew Summerson, officiating; interment to follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Hessville; visitation at the church on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00pm. Parastas Service at 7:30pm. Kathy Jorkon was born on October 15, 1947 to John and Ann (Dziachek) Tkach and was a lifelong resident of the Whiting-Robertsdale Community. She was a member of St. Mary’s Assumption Byzantine Catholic Church, Whiting and the St. Mary Altar, Rosary and Sacred Heart Society. She was a graduate of Whiting High School, Class of 1965 and the Purdue University School of Nursing. She loved butterflies and nature. Devoted to her family, Kathy will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
