Joseph A. Szafranski

Joseph A. Szafranski, 72 of Batavia, Ohio, formerly of Whiting, passed away peacefully on the morning of Monday, February 23, 2026 at Sycamore Vista Group Home, Batavia, Ohio. He was the beloved son of the late Harry and Mary (Paunicka) Szafranski; cherished brother of Elaine (Joe) Macaluso, late Harry (Patty) Szafranski and Mary Ann Szafranski; dear uncle of Christopher (Suzanne) Macaluso, Zachary Macaluso and Gabriel Macaluso, great uncle of Grace, Caroline, Isaac and Logan Macaluso. He is also survived by his Uncle Frank Paunicka and many cousins.

Joey was born on February 2, 1954 and was a longtime resident of the Whiting-Robertsdale Community. He participated with the Lake County Arc-Bridges Workshop for many years and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting.
