Joseph L. Pranaitis

Joseph L. Pranaitis, 45 of Whiting, passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago. Beloved son of the late Leonard W. and Mary Elizabeth (Norris) Pranaitis; loving brother of Jack (Cheri) Pranaitis; cherished uncle of Brittney, Kenny, Jackson, Lily, Autumn, Bradley and the late Brendan and Tad; dear stepson of Charlie Artist; fond step-brother of Charles, Jr., Ron, Andy and Lynette Artist.

A memorial visitation will be held at the Baran funeral Home, 1235-119th Street, Whiting on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 from 6:00 to time of services at 7:30pm with Pastor Tom K. Norwalk of the Zion United Church of Christ, Dyer, officiating Expressions of sympathy may be placed on-line at www.baranfh.com.

Joseph Pranaitis was born on August 25, 1978 and was a lifelong resident of the Whiting-Robertsdale Community. He received his Associates of Arts Degree from the Calumet College of St. Joseph and was the manager of the historic Hoosier Theatre in downtown Whiting for many years. Joseph will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, please treat yourself to a movie at the Hoosier Theatre, Whiting, in Joseph’s honor.
