Joseph A. Pazanin, 78 of Hammond, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2025 at his residence. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Janice (nee Posavec); dearest brother-in-law of Steven (Marilee) Posavec and Joanne Posavec; dear uncle of Stefanie (Steven McInerny) Posavec and Rachel Posavec; fond great uncle of Rowan Gift McInerny.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 10:00am at St. Adalbert Church, 121St Street and Indianapolis Blvd., Whiting, with the Rev. Mark R. Peres, C.PP.S., officiating. Visitation at the church on Friday morning from 9:00am to time of services. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th Street, Whiting, IN. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on-line at www.baranfh.com.
Joseph Pazanin was born on April 29, 1946 to Robert and Jennie (Tokarz) Pazanin and was a lifelong resident of Hammond. He was a graduate of George Rogers Clark High School, Class of 1964 and went on to earn his Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering from Coyne College, Chicago. He was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict and was a retiree of the US Steel Company, Gary, with a service of 25 years. He was an avid reader and fisherman. A devoted husband, Joseph will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Whiting “Gimme Shelter” (for pets), P.O.
