John Virgil Jansky

John Virgil Jansky, 66 of Whiting, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago. He was the beloved son of the late Virgil and Dorothy (Demkovich) Jansky; loving brother of Diane (Tom) Jansky. Ken (Cindy) Jansky and the late Kevin Jansky; dear uncle of Justin Jansky; many cousins and he enjoyed the company of his feline friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 10:00am at St. Adalbert Church, 121St Street and Indianapolis Blvd., Whiting, with the Rev. Mark R. Peres, C.PP.S., officiating. Visitation at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00am to time of services. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th Street, Whiting, IN. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on-line at www.baranfh.com.

John Virgil Jansky was born on February 13, 1959 and was a lifelong resident of Whiting. He was a graduate of Whiting High School, Class of 1977 and was a retiree of the BP Whiting Business Unit with a service of 39 years. John loved nature and all God’s creatures. He enjoyed gardening, was an avid fisherman (bass catch and release) and enjoyed his visits to the Willow Slough Fish and Wildlife Area. Devoted to his family, John will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Whiting “Gimmer Shelter” (for pets), P.O.
