John Tkach Jr.

John Tkach, Jr., 88 of Lansing passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at the Amita Health Alexian Brothers Medical Center, Elk Grove Village, Illinois. He was the beloved husband of the late Wilma M. (DeLong) Tkach for 61 years, who passed away September 5, 2020; loving father of David (Pamela) Tkach; cherished grandfather of Carly and Ryan Tkach; dearest brother of Nancy (late Gerald) Tatarek, Ruth Tkach and the late Anna (late Paul) Baran and Rosemary (late Edward) Domasica; dear brother-in-law of Roberta Whittle; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 3:00pm at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting with the Rev. Thomas Loya, officiating; cremation to follow. Visitation at the funeral home on Friday afternoon from 1:00pm to time of services. (Due to the current health situation, face masks must be worn, social distancing is expected). John Tkach was born on January 27, 1933 to John and Anna (Zofchak) Tkach and was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Region. He was a graduate of George Rogers Clark High School, Class of 1951 and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management from Indiana University. He was a member of St. Mary’s Assumption Byzantine Catholic Church, Whiting and was a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. John spent his business career in the HVAC industry and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Devoted to his family, John will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
