John A. Jansak, 57 of Whiting, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024 at St. Catherine Hospital, in East Chicago, Indiana. Beloved son of the late Joseph S. and Helen (Hagovska) Jansak; loving brother of Ethel (John) Sech, Pete (Carol) Jansak and Linda Jansak; cherished uncle of Robert (Delphi) Sech, Daniel (Lindsey) Sech, Cindy Lake and the late Frank Hill; many dear great-nieces and great-nephews.
Private funeral services were held Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting, with the Rev. Charles W. Niblick, officiating; interment, St. John Cemetery, Hammond. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on-line at www.baranfh.com.
John Jansak was born on January 20, 1967 and was a lifelong resident of Whiting.He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Assoc., BR. 81 and the National Slovak Society.
John was beloved for his gentle, sweet nature and his ability to brighten the day with his quirky sense of humor, which often caught others by surprise. Playing basketball with loved ones brought him joy and led to many cherished moments on the court. He was an avid sports enthusiast who loved playing tennis, pool, and golf, as well as supporting all Chicago sports teams. Time spent at the local Community Center (YMCA) was a favorite activity. John’s gentle nature and quiet strength will be remembered with love and admiration by all who knew him.
