Jimmy L. Noojin, 74 of Whiting passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at his residence. He was the beloved husband of the late Betty (McNinch) Noojin who passed away March 16, 2008; loving father of Jimmy (Sharon Soto) Noojin, Josh (Rachel) Noojin, Caroline (Phillip) Griffith, Chrissy Noojin and the late Jason Noojin; cherished grandfather of Luke and Jason Noojin, Cory Yzaguirre, Jacob, George and Nicole Rodriguez, Nicholas Griffith, Rebecca and Matthew Noojin, Brittany, Mitchell and Austin Alicea; many dear great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A Celebration of Jimmy’s Life will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022, from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the American Slovak Club, 1324-119th St., Whiting (use Temple Court entrance). Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on-line at www.baranfh.com.
Jimmy Noojin was born on February 25, 1947 in Jasper, Alabama to James and Iverna (Smith) Noojin and was a resident of Whiting for over 50 years. He was a truck driver for 45 years and was last employed by Aero Illinois Trucking, Hammond with over 15 years of service. He was a member of the Amvets Post 64. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. Devoted to his family, Jimmy will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Whiting “Gimme Shelter” (for pets), P.O. Bos 591, Whiting, Indiana 46394, would be appreciated.
