Janice L. (Posavec) Pazanin

Janice L. Pazanin (nee Posavec), 71, of Hammond, passed away suddenly on July 9, 2025 at her residence. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Pazanin, who passed away February 1, 2025. Cherished sister of Steven (Marilee) Posavec and Joanne Posavec; dearest aunt of Rachel Posavec and Stefanie (Stephen McInerny) Posavec; dear great aunt of Rowan Gift McInerny, and loving human to many dogs and a cat.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at 10:00am at St. Adalbert Church, 121St Street and Indianapolis Blvd., Whiting, with the Rev. Timothy McFarland, C.PP.S., officiating. Visitation at the church on Tuesday morning from 9:00am to time of services. Entombment of cremains to follow at St. John Cemetery, Hammond.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th Street, Whiting. Janice Pazanin was born on December 18, 1953  to the late Joseph and Dorothy (Yazvec) Posavec. She was a lifelong resident of Hammond and was a graduate of  Bishop Noll Institute, Class of 1971 and went on to earn her Associate Degree in Office Administration from Ivy Tech Community College of Gary. An award-winning photographer, Janice was a member of the Chicago Area Camera Club Association, the Photographic Society of America and the 3H Camera Club of Munster. She loved gardening and was an avid fan of the Chicago White Sox, Blackhawks and Bears. She also had a passion for crafting, from crocheting and basket making to quilting. Her family looked forward to receiving her handmade Christmas ornaments every year. Devoted to her family, Janice will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
