Heriberto M. "Beto" Unate

Heriberto M. “Beto” Unate, 69 of Whiting, passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at his residence. He was the beloved son of the late Eugenio and Antonia (Vara) Unate; loving brother of Martha (late Ronald) Wright, Maria Carrillo, Rolando Unate, Alma Gonalez and Guadalupe (fiancée, Robert Olzanski) Unate; cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Private funeral services were held on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 7:00pm at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting, IN, with the Rev. James Dvorscak, officiating; cremation followed.. Expressions of sympathy may be shared online at www.baranfh.com. 

Beto Unate was born on February 23, 1956. A lifelong resident of Whiting, he was a graduate of Whiting High School, Class of 1974 and was a longtime cook at “Just Dotty’s” restaurant in Whiting. He enjoyed photography and biking. Devoted to his family, Beto will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Whiting Food Pantry or the Whiting “Gimme Shelter” (for pets), P.O. Box 591, Whiting, IN 46394, would be appreciated.
