Georgette M. "Georgie" (Hauser) Blackwell

Georgette M. “Georgie” Blackwell (nee Hauser) 77 of Whiting, passed away peacefully on the evening of Wednesday, July 26, 2023 surrounded by her most cherished family at her residence. She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Jerry; loving mother of Dave (Laura) Blackwell and Lori (John) Bazelewski; dearest grandmother of Amanda (Nick) Serrato, Brianna (Brian) McGuire, Courtney Blackwell and Autumn Bazelewski; adoring great grandma of Kannon McGuire; dear sister of Linda (late Walter) Glenn and Ronald (Diana) Hauser; proud aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at 1:00pm at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting, with the Rev. Mark R. Peres, C.PP.S., of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, officiating; interment to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Hammond; visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00am to time of services. Georgie Blackwell was born on March 28, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois to Charles and Marie Hauser and was a longtime resident of the Whiting-Robertsdale Community. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, the Whiting-Robertsdale Senior Citizens Club (past president) and Helping Hands. She enjoyed playing bunco and an occasional trip to the casino. A devoted wife, mother and grandma, Georgie will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
