George Timothy Gima, 65 of Whiting, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at the Methodist Hospital Southlake Campus, Merrillville. He was the beloved son of the late George and Bernice (Wisz) Gima and was preceded in death by two sisters, Henrietta (Thomas) Gulley and Mary Louise (Gary) McClain and his brother, Gregory (Marcia) Gima; dear uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at 8:00p.m. at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th Street, Whiting, with the Rev. Mark R. Peres, C.PP.S. of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, officiating; cremation to follow; visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6:00 pm to time of services. Tim was born on December 9, 1958 and was a lifelong resident of the Whiting-Robertsdale Community. He was a graduate of George Rogers Clark High School, Class of 1976 and Lincoln Tech, Indianapolis. He was a retiree of the Inland Steel Company (Cleveland Cliffs), East Chicago with a service of 41½ years and was a member of the United Steel Workers, Local 1010. An avid hunter, fisherman and boater, he was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the Whiting-Robertsdale Boat Club. Tim was a kind and generous man and enjoyed visiting with his friends at Sportsman’s Corner in Whiting. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the charity of your choice, would be appreciated.
