Douglas E. Garreffa, 64 of Hammond, passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, April 23, 2022 at his residence. He is survived by his children, Tabitha Garreffa, Richard (Shannon) Garreffa, Maggie (Dominic) Aloia, Gerilynn (Kyle) Baker and Timothy Shilling; adoring grandpa of Carter, Lillian and Lewis; longtime companion, Teresa Shilling; dearest brother of Earl, Linda, Edward and David Garreffa and the late Carol (Linden) Palla, Charlie Garreffa, John Garreffa and Shirley Jones; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 7:00pm at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting; visitation at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00pm to time of services; (Due to the current health situation face masks and social distancing is encouraged.) Douglas Garreffa was born on October 5, 1957 to the late Charlie and Virginia (Brzinski) Garreffa and was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Region. Douglas was a very talented auto mechanic and enjoyed shooting billiards and fishing. Devoted to his family, he will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Whiting Food Pantry, P.O. Box 591, Whiting, IN 46394, would be appreciated.
