Dorothy T. Miller (nee Stofcik) 92 of Whiting, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at the Ignite Medical Resort, Dyer. She was the beloved wife of 66 years to the late Joseph P. Miller who passed away March 12, 2018; loving mother of Patricia (Dave) Howland, Susan (Scott) Cramer, Joseph (Angela) Miller and Nancy (Gus) Danielides; cherished grandmother of Jason (Brenda) Jendreas, Jaclyn (Ryan) Bentley, Nicholas (Ashley) Cramer, Ryan (Joy) Cramer, Lindsay Alice Halik, Trevor (Kayla) Miller, Samuel (fiancée Christine Terragas) Miller, Eric Curosh, Elizabeth (Jonathan) Lovasko and Alexandra Danielides; adoring great grandma of ten; dear friends Carol, Jacobson, Pam Kaminsky Kompier and special care giver, Pat Brom; she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Stofcik and Donald “Ducky” Stofcik.
Private funeral services were held, there was no visitation. Dorothy’s cremains will be interred at St. John Cemetery, Hammond. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on-line at www.baranfh.com .
Dorothy Miller was born on February 3, 1932 to Michael and Susanna (Kovacek) Stofcik. A lifelong resident of the Whiting-Robertsdale Community, she was a graduate of George Rogers Clark High School, Class of 1950. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting and the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Assoc., BR. 81. She was a retiree of the American Trust & Savings Bank with a service of 15 years. Dorothy enjoyed playing dominos with friends, traveling, crocheting, the game show network and sharing recipes with her grandchildren. Devoted to her family, she will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Diane Jennings Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o the School City of Whiting, 1500 Center Street, Whiting, IN 46394, would be appreciated.
