Donald James Kuzma

Donald James Kuzma, 64 of Whiting, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 20, 2023 at St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago. He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Maria (nee Trevino); loving father of Karen Kuzma, Julie (Jonathan Bailon) Kuzma and Diana Trevino; adoring grandpa of Jacob Kuzma, Sophia Bailon and JJ Bailon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Denise (Bente) Kuzma and three brothers, Bernard, Michael and Steve Kuzma.H

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at 5:00pm at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th Street, Whiting, with the Rev. Andrew Summerson of St. Mary’s Assumption Byzantine Catholic Church, Whiting, officiating; visitation at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00pm to time of services. Donald Kuzma was born on February 10, 1959 and was a lifelong resident of the Whiting-Robertsdale Community. He was a retiree of the Arcelor Mittal (Inland Steel Co.), East Chicago with a service of 34 years and was a member of the United Steel Workers Union 1010. Donald was an avid hunter and fisherman and was an assistant at the smoke shop/ fireworks store on Indianapolis Blvd. A devoted husband and father, he especially enjoyed time with his grandkids. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Whiting Gimme Shelter (for pets), P.O. Box 591, Whiting, Indiana 46394, would be appreciated.
