David Reed

David Reed, 75, of Whiting, IN, passed away unexpectedly on June 24, 2024, at Community Hospital in Munster, IN, while undergoing an angioplasty procedure.  Preceded in death by his parents Vernon and Elinor Reed; sister Margo Feinberg; and daughter Amy Reed.  Survived by loving wife Priscilla McCarty; sons Daniel Reed and Nicholas (Bethany) Reed, daughter Kimberly Reed; step-son Robert (Kelly) McCarty; step-daughter Lisa (Gilbert) Voy; grandson Isaiah Reed; step-granddaughters Kelsey Voy and Delaney Voy; step-grandson Morgan McCarty; and sister Melanie (Jack) Ross.  He was also the proud dog father of Maisie, Carmel and Tulip.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, from 2-4pm at Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119 Street, Whiting, Indiana, with a service officiated by Pastor Pete Ward at 4pm.  Expressions of sympathy may be placed online at www.baranfh.com .

Dave was a good-natured, loving and fun soul that always had a ready dad joke to tell.  He was born on January 18, 1949, grew up in Rogers Park, IL, and spent the last 20 years in Whiting, IN.  Before retiring and moving to Indiana, Dave devoted over 40 years to his craft of home remodeling.  For the past 10 years, he worked for the city of Whiting as an EMA and ticket writer and security in Whiting Park.  Devoted to his family, Dave enjoyed reading, watching movies, coffee in the park, spotting herons while driving along Calumet and spending time with his dogs.  He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and furry children. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Whiting “Gimmer Shelter” (for pets), P.O. Box 591, Whiting, Indiana 46394, would be appreciated.
