Darlene Kolina (nee Raseta) 89 of Steilacom, Washington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. She is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Dr, John S. “Jack” Kolina, Lt. Col., US Army (Retired); loving mother of Stephen (Bonney) Kolina, Michael Kolina, David (Ana) Kolina and Karen (late Herbert) Alexander; cherished grandmother of Sean Paul Kolina; dearest sister of Nadine (later Zarko) Sekerez and Michael Raseta; dear sister-in-law of Pat (late Ben) Likens; numerous nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services were held on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at St. John Cemetery, Hammond, with the Rev. Mark R. Peres, C.PP.S., of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, officiating. Darlene Kolina was born on April 15, 1933 in East Chicago, Indiana to Michael and Sophie (Lustina) Raseta. She was a graduate of East Chicago Washington High School, Class of 1951 and went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University, Bloomington. She enjoyed current affairs, local politics and loved to read. A devoted wife, mother and grandma, Darlene will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
