Dalton E. Castle

Dalton E. Castle. 80 of Whiting, passed away peacefully on the early morning of Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at his residence. Beloved husband of 55 years to Shirley Castle; loving father of  the late Tom Castle, late Melody (Jim) Augustyn, Heather Castle and Megan Castle; cherished grandfather of Jimmy (Aubrey) Augustyn, Matthew (Corinne) Augustyn, Ryan (Hannah) Augustyn, Zack Castle and Courtney (Marisa) Castle; adoring great grandpa of Oliver, Julia, Ada, Dallas and Liam; dearest brother of David (Peggy) Castle and Mike (Daisy) Castle; dear brother-in-law of Linda (late Joe) Sherman;  many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Friday, July 11, 2025 at 1:00pm with Military Honors at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting, there was no visitation. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on-line at www.baranfh.com.

Dalton Castle was born on August 2, 1944 in Harlan County, Kentucky to Dallas and Hazel (Johnson) Castle. He was a longtime resident of Whiting and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He was a life member of the VFW, Walter Kleiber Post 2724 and Amvets Post 64 and was a member of the American Legion Whiting Post 80. He was a retiree of the LTV/Mittal Steel Company, East Chicago with a service of 30 years. He enjoyed working crossword puzzles, listening to music and going fishing. Devoted to his family, Dalton will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Whiting “Gimme Shelter” (for pets), P.O. Box 591, Whiting, IN 46394, would be appreciated.
