Carmelita Montoya

Carmelita Montoya, 84 of Whiting, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Loving mother of Marlene (Richard) Lee, Lily May (Guillermo) Gamino, Joy (Miguel) Rodriguez and Allan (Tracey) Buhangin; cherished grandmother of Britteney (Jon) Madix, Joshua (Kristina) Buhangin, Memory Gamino, Christian Gamino, Tatiana Gamino, Allante Lee, Alyssa Ritzma, Luke Ritzma, Cruz Jacinto and Kelli Jacinto; adoring great grandma of Julian and Dominic; dearest sister of Sol, Fely, Romolo and Racquel; dear aunt to many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 1:00pm at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119^th Street, Whiting; friends are invited to meet with the family from 12 noon to time of services (due to the current health situation, face masks and social distancing is encouraged). Carmelita Montoya was born in the Philippines on May 28, 1937 to Eliseo and Filomena Montoya and had been a resident of Whiting for the past seven years. She was a Registered Nurse and was a retiree of Trinity Hospital (South Chicago Community Hospital) with over 15 years of service. Carmelita loved to knit, read and garden. Devoted to her family, she will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
